Muluneh Yimer, MD
Muluneh completed his medical school training at Addis Ababa University and practiced at Jimma University, Ethiopia. After immigrating to the USA, he had pediatric residency and pediatric cardiology training before becoming board certified by the American Academy of Pediatrics. He currently practices pediatric cardiology in the Sacramento area of California
Muluneh is passionate for philanthropic works. He is founder and had served as the first CEO of Amhara Professionals Union. He is founder and current CEO of Wonfel Aid, a nonprofit organization whose mission is empowering the Amhara people of Ethiopia through education and health.
Abraham has a Phd in Electrical and Computer Engineering. Currently he is a lead data scientist with more than 5 years of industry experience in data science and software development in a financial industry. In his role as a data scientist he applies cutting edge machine learning algorithms to extract, sense and interpret patterns in a data to assist business decisions. In his free time, he loves serving his community by volunteering on several activities in both religious and charity organization. Abraham is founder of Wonfel Aid.
Teferi Abere, MSc
Teferi holds BSc and MSc in Civil Engineering. He attended his bachelor’s degree at Addis Ababa University and his master’s degree at San Jose State University. He is currently a Principal Project Manager at Mott MacDonald. He serves as an Associate Treasurer of American Public Works Association Silicon Valley Chapter. He has served as a former San Jose State University Civil Engineering Department Advisory Committee (DAC) Board member and as Vice Chairman of Mekane Rama Saint Gabriel Cathedral in San Jose, California. He is founder and current secretary of Wonfel Aid.
Mulusew holds a BSN (BSC of Nursing). She worked in several positions as nurse in ICU and oncology units at University of Wisconsin Carbone cancer center. She currently works in outpatient surgery at Emory university hospital. Mulu is also the founder of a nonprofit organization called Clinic At a Time that works to improve rural area clinics in Amhara region. Mulu is founder and board member of Wonfel Aid.
Abiyu Aynalem, Msc
Abiyu received his BSc and MSc degrees in Earth Science from Addis Ababa University. He also received MSc degree from School of Civil Engineering New Castle University, UK. Abiyu worked in different private sectors, non-government organizations and UN agency in Africa, Spain and US. Currently, Abiyu is the founder and CEO of Empire TP Inc based in Buffalo, NY and his Company won an entrepreneurship award in 2017. Besides being entrepreneur, he engages in various volunteer activities. He is elected board Member of Ethiopian Community in Buffalo, NY. He is one of the founders of Gojjam Global Alliance, and he also initiated the boarding School project in Amhara region and joined Wonfel to contribute more for his people.
Yihun Dille, Phd
Audit and Evaluation
Yihun received his Ph.D. degree in Hydrology and Water Management from Stockholm University, Sweden. His MSc degree is in Water Resources Engineering from Lund University, Sweden. He studied his BSc degree in Hydraulic Engineering from Arba Minch University. Currently, he is working as a Research Scientist at the Texas A&M University. Yihun actively engages in Ethiopian related community-based activities such as the Global Coalition for Lake Tana Restoration, and Grand Ethiopian Books (GEB) project. To pay back his “wonfel” to his Ethiopian root, he is now serving in the Amhara Region Boarding School committee.
Mekdes Asrat, MA
Media and IT
Mekdes holds MA and has done a course work towards a PhD in Applied Linguistics and Development at AAU. She was a former lecturer at Adama University. She served as a Program Specialist and Workforce Developer at ECDC and Catholic Charities respectively, both refugee resettlement agencies here in USA. Mekdes was also a Human Rights Activist at Amnesty International USA. Currently, she is a Project Proposal Developer at ICATT Consulting Inc. USA and a Human Rights Columnist on Ethio-Digest. Mekides is founder and board member of Wonfel Aid.
Yinges Yigzaw, Phd
Yinges holds a PhD in Biochemistry. For the last 16 years, Yinges has worked in several biotechnology companies including Amgen and currently works as a Sr Scientist at Genentech. Yinges is the founder of the nonprofit DreamBig & Connect Inc that supported outstanding students in Amhara region and currently raising funds to rebuild elementary school in Ashuda, Gojjam. Yinges is founder and board member of Wonfel Aid.
Media and IT
Giziew holds a Bsc Degree in Electrical Engineering at Addis Ababa University. He is former Employee of Ethiopian Telecommunication Corporation/Ethio Telecom. He currently works for Washington Metro Area Transit Authority. Giziew is board member of Wonfel Aid.
Simachew Alemneh, Bsc
Simachew holds a BSc from Haromaya University in Ethiopia, and Bachelor of Nursing (BNS) from University of Washington. Simachew is currently working at Harborview Medical Center as registered Nurse. Simachew also actively participates in community-based services and projects. He is the secretary of Ghion mutual association in Seattle, Washington State. He is also a member of Smart Learning Center Project in Amhara Region.
Nuredin is a well-known poet in the Ethiopian community and he runs his own media. He is involved in different community based volunteer services.
